OPERATION FUTUREKIDS UNITS - GOLD (8-11 YEARS OLD)

LOG ON

In Log On, students create a "boot-up" board game. The game teaches players the process of booting-up a computer, from flipping the on switch to running a program. In making the board game, the students create technology cards, scan images, produce playing pieces and design the playing board by using a template.

WORLD WILDLIFE

In World Wildlife, students travel to remote regions of the globe and encounter fauna from the local habitat. Observations are chronicled in a field notebook and a customized database that is constructed to keep track of the students findings.

WORLD'S FAIR

In World’s Fair, students help create the next international fair by designing elements such as flags, rides, logos, icons, pavilions and maps.

WORLD CURRENCY

In World Currency, students travel to a foreign city and use spreadsheet skills to budget their expenses, to compare currency exchange rates and long distance phone rates, and to determine the cost effectiveness of various modes of transportation. The children also use their desktop publishing skills, which were mastered in previous units, to create charts, graphs and travel guides documenting their experiences.

TIME CAPSULE

In Time Capsule, students learn how to combine text, graphics, sound, animation and video to create an informative and exciting presentation that depicts life in their communities.
